With respect to Investments, we try to construct portfolios that perform well in all types of investing climates. We start with determining an Asset Allocation based on your age, goals and risk tolerance. This simply means determining what percentage of stocks, bonds and cash should be present in the portfolio. Next we diversify each of those asset types. For stocks, we diversify between growth and value, large and small, domestic and foreign. For bonds, we diversify between high quality and lower quality, long term and short term, government and corporate. We might even include some real estate investments. The idea is to construct a portfolio where the investments are not moving in tandem so that some part of your portfolio is always generating a positive return.
We take a Goal based approach to Financial Planning and Retirement Planning. You specify the Goals that you want to plan for such as Living Expenses, College Funding, a Child's Wedding, Travel, whatever. We then input all of your Resources such as Income, Investments, Pensions, Social Security, etc. If your Resources are sufficient to support your goals - great! If not, we determine what you need to do to create a successful plan.
